The design, which leaves the center of the two shawl-like pieces open and unconnected, is still evolving steadily. Two types of yarn are used, with the center knitted with straight yarn and the shoulders knitted with increased stitches to create a drooping shoulder. Even when knitted with thick yarn, it does not look like a hakama and maintains a beautiful silhouette.
